Tag Question কি ?

উত্তর : বর্ণনা বা বিবৃতি মুলক বাকের শেষে যে সংক্ষিপ্ত প্রশ্ন জুড়ে দেওয়া হয় তাকে Tag Question বলে।

Tag Question কত ভাবে করা যায় ?

উত্তর : Tag question –দু ভাবে সম্পূর্ণ হয়।

1. Affirmative tag
2. Negative tag

Tag Question গঠনের নিয়ম :

RULE - 01 :

মূল Sentence + Comma (,) + Tag Question + Note of Interrogation (?)

Example :

 I am happy, aren't I?

Note : Tag question-এর subject সবসময় Pronoun হয়।

RULE - 02 :
Tag question গঠনের সময় ব্যবহৃত auxiliary কে সহকারী verb বা operator বলে।

নিম্নের Be Verb, Have Verb ও Modal Verb গুলো থাকলে সেগুলোর Negative Form বসাতে হয় , আবার Negative form থাকলে Affirmative Form বসাতে হয় ।

Example : I am a sudent, aren’t I ? I am not a sudent, am I ? Fatema does not go there, does she ? RULE - 03 :   যদি বাক্য positive থাকে তবে tag question এ negative, এবং যদি বাক্য negative থাকে তবে tag question এ positive  রাখতে হবে।   Example : This little boy is not guilty, is he? এখানে বাক্যটি negative হওয়াতে tag question positive হল। RULE - 04 : খুবই সাধারণ নিয়ম,tense বদলানো যাবেনা। RULE - 05 : Subject এর Pronoun ব্যবহার করতে হবে,ব্যক্তি হলে he/she/I/you, বস্তু হলে this/that/it.   EXAMPLE : This is a very comfortable pillow, isn’t it?   TAG QUESTION এ কয়টি নিয়ম মেনে চললে অনেক tag question উত্তর করা সম্ভব। যেমনঃ   Q.Sohrab was a brave man, ________ ? (A unit; 2005-06) অবশ্যই এখানে উত্তর হবে wasn’t he, আরেকটি দেখা যাক,   Q.It’s summer in Australia, ________ ? (A unit; 2001-03) আর এটার উত্তর isn’t it হবে সেটা 2nd নিয়ম থেকেই বলা যায়।এবার আরও একটা,   Q.He always lags behind, _________ ? (B unit; 2002-03) এবার কিছুটা সমস্যা হওয়ারই কথা!কারণ বাক্যটিতে কোন Auxiliary verb নেই যেটা দিয়ে tag question বানানো যাবে।তাই এখানে কিছুটা common sense এবং english sense ব্যবহার করতে হবে, option গুলো খেয়াল করুন,   a. won’t he?      b. can’t he?       c.didn’t he?     d.doesn’t he?   প্রথমে বাক্যটির tense খেয়াল করুন, তাহলেই কাজ অনেক সহজ হয়ে যাবে।বাক্যটি রয়েছে present indefinite tense এ, কেননা ‘lag’ verb টির সাথে s’ যুক্ত হয়েছে যা কেবল present indefinite tense এই হয়।এখন 4th নিয়ম মনে করুন, যেটা বলছে tag question  এর tense ,প্রধান বাক্যের tesne একই থাকবে।তাই আমরা বলতে পারি হবেনা a. won’t he?  কারন এটা future tense . একই ভাবে c.didn’t he? আমরা incorrect বলতে পারি যেহেতু এটা past tense.   b. can’t he?  এটা কি শুদ্ধ হবে?এখানে আপনাকে common sense এর পরিচয় দিতে হবে!প্রধান বাক্যের কোথাও কোন কিছু “পারা” এমন কথা বলা হয়নি, তাই can’t he সম্পুর্ণ অপ্রাসংগিক। অতএব correct answer হবে, d. doesn’t he?     tense এর নিয়ম অনুযায়ী বলুনতো এই প্রশ্নের উত্তরটা, Q. You forgot my birthday, _________ ? (DU,B unit; 2002-03) a. haven’t you    b.didn’t you?     c. aren’t you?   d. wouldn’t you? আমাদের past tense খুজতে হবে,সেটা আছে option b আর option d তে। wouldn’t you, কখনও উত্তর হবেনা কারন তাতে কোনো অর্থবহ বাক্য তৈরী করবেনা।তাই সঠিক option b. কয়েকটি উদাহরণ দেখে নিনঃ   1. You and I talked with that girl, didn’t we? 2. You won’t be leaving for another hour , will you? 3. You have two children, don’t you? (American English) 4. You have two children, haven’t you? (British English) দুটোই ঠিক, তবে উভয় option থাকলে British টি preferable.   Special Examples   Let us go for a walk, shall we? Imperative বাক্য বুঝালে tag question এর এই বিশেষ নিয়ম হয়, উভয় বাক্যই এখানে positive. Let us help them, shall we? Let me have a book, will you? Stop the noise, will you? Open the door, can you? তাই যখনই বাক্যটি অনুরোধ বা প্রস্তাবমূলক হবে তখন এই বিশেষ উদাহরণগুলো মনে রাখতে হবে। আরেকটি সমস্যা হয় যখন subject একটু different হয়,যেমনঃ 6. None can make it, can they? 7. Nobody went there, did they? 8. Anyone is qualified, are they? 9. Neither of them has gone, have they? তাহলে যখন subject none,nobody,neither,anyone হবে তখন tag question এ they ব্যবহার করতে হবে,statement positive থাকলে positive ই রাখতে হবে tag question এ। আর বাক্যে seldom,barely,hardly,scarcely থাকলে বুঝতে হবে এটা negative statement,তাই tag question এ not বসানো যাবেনা।এটা আরেকটা বিশেষ নিয়ম। 10.He barely wins here, does he?
